Gang Prevention and Intervention Program Strategies

Contracts begin (pending City Council Approval):  Monday, January 1, 2007

There is $300,000 available in grant funds for parent education programs for families with elementary and middle school children and youth at-risk for gang involvement and $380,000 available in grant funds for programs that provide youth (aged 12-24) who are gang involved and/or at high-risk for becoming gang involved with positive alternatives to gang life LIVING IN MEASURE Y HIGH PRIORITY BEATS IN CENTRAL AND EAST OAKLAND.   The Gang Prevention and Intervention Program Strategies are demonstration projects that will be contracted out to non-profit organizations or public agencies for two years (Calendar years 2007 and 2008).
