Measure Y Funding Process

Measure Y Violence Prevention funding is allocated toward specific best practice strategies that intervene with target populations most at risk for being perpetrators or victims of violence in order to reduce violence.  Measure Y is not a broad, generic grants program. The City of Oakland provides ongoing training and technical assistance to funded agencies in order to build agency capacity, ensure fidelity to Best Practice service models, and deliver the desired violence prevention outcomes.

Most Measure Y programs were selected through an intensive Request for Proposal process. The current programs are funded for three fiscal years starting on July 1, 2007. Therefore, the next anticipated Request for Proposal process will not occur until Fiscal Year 2009-10.

For Measure Y Grantees

Measure Y funds over 25 non- profit organizations and public agencies to implement the 20 Measure Y program strategies. Our primary way of communicating with grantees is through email from DHS staff and our Measure Y web-based data system. If you are a Measure Y grantee with a user name and password, please click here to access the Measure Y database.
