The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable tax credit available to you, depending on your family size and income. In the City of Oakland, you can get FREE tax preparation services a site within your community until April 15. What is a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site?

VITA sites are certified confidential Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Sites located throughout the Oakland community to assist low-income families and individuals by providing FREE tax preparation. That’s right, FREE! Why pay someone to do your tax returns when you can get an IRS qualified volunteer to prepare your tax returns for FREE.

In addition, you can receive information on other benefits your family may qualify for like free/low cost health care, monthly food assistance, and/or financial/banking resources. The campaign runs from late January through April 15th.
